This big-hearted, goofy puppy has won the love of so many, who have been inspired by his miraculous recovery and his fun-loving personality! Ethan, who was near the point of death when he was found abandoned in late January outside of the Kentucky Humane Society's main campus on Steedly Drive in Louisville, has since won over the hearts of countless fans in the city and beyond.
And he has continued a remarkable recovery, now weighing 83 pounds after he was just 38 pounds when a family found him in the parking lot on Jan. He is "continuing to put on weight and muscle," the humane society said Wednesday. Late Monday afternoon, the Henderson-Hughes family, who discovered Ethan in January after dropping off a donation at the KHS building, were able to reunite and spend a bit of time playing with the dog they helped save. Ethan spent several weeks in critical care at an emergency veterinary hospital before transitioning into the foster home of longtime KHS staffer Jeff Callaway, who has helped the dog recover and learn new tricks.
On Thursday, the humane society shared more special news : Callaway and his family will adopt Ethan. Louisville Metro Animal Services, which handles allegations of animal cruelty and neglect in Jefferson County, is investigating Ethan's case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency at PETS. The humane society has security cameras, but Ethan was left in a "blind spot in the parking lot," the group said.
Lady Gaga has offered a reward for the return of her dogs, Koji and Gustav. A third bulldog, named Miss Asia ran away and was later recovered by police. Her press representative said anyone with information on their whereabouts can email KojiandGustav gmail. It is not known whether Lady Gaga's pets were targeted because of her celebrity status, or whether it was a chance - or planned - attack, because of the breed of dog involved. This is not an isolated incident involving French bulldogs.
There have been several cases, around the United States, sometimes involving violent assaults on their owners, where the animals have been stolen. In January, a woman in San Francisco was attacked at gunpoint by three men who escaped with her five-month-old puppy. French bulldogs are hugely popular and in much demand, but they are notoriously difficult to breed. They require artificial insemination and the physical characteristics of the dog - a large head and shoulders - mean they usually have to be delivered by Caesarean section.
Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they are searching for a man who "fired a gunshot from an unknown location and struck the victim" on North Sierra Bonita Avenue at on Wednesday. A "possible suspect" fled the scene in a white vehicle towards Hollywood Boulevard, they added. It is not clear whether Lady Gaga's dogs were specifically targeted in the attack.
